Contacts install
While your at it - pick up these gems:
This will keep you from burning up your shut down solenoid - which is a common thing: http://www.fostertruck.com/sol-saverdiode.htm

Plunger is a piece of cake... just DONT de-solder or cut the wires going to the brushes!!!! And if you DO replace the brushes, only replace the ones that aren't soldered. 2 are soldered, 2 are unsoldered.
My contacts should be here Thursday, my only concern, how heavy is the starter itself? Can I lift it out myself, or will I need a second pair of hands? When you put it back in, will the weight rest on the end while you start the bolts?
All I intend to do is replace the 2 contacts and plunger, then re-install it.

The starter is a hefty pig (its turning a HEFTY PIG of a beast motor), but unless your 100lbs you can lift it yourself. The way it bolts in it actually isn't too bad. Slip the bottom bolts in first, then do the top one while cinching them along slowly and it will rest easily.
so, I guess it's not gonna be a big deal that the plastic boot on the big cable snapped off, it was hard as a rock. The bolts, even the top broke loose easy, other than having to turn them all all the way out. Now if my damn parts will just arrive in the mail...
