Default egts in relation to tranny

shouldnt in theory an auto run cooler egts excellerating with an auto then a manual?
because the tranny isnt locking the motor with the drivetrain and it doesnt require much fuel or power to excllerate. since a manual is all locked up it take more fuel for it to go?
does this make sense? or am i wrong

haha, just from experience driving both, it makes sense. in my 5spd the motor is always under a load, fuels harder, and smokes alot. in an auto theres not as much as a load. autos run higher rpms, but there not under a load so they dont fuel as much. or thats what i gather from thinking
