Default 5 speed?

How much would it cost to convert my 98 12valve auto to somthing like a nv4500. I'm starting to get sick of putting more money into my auto transmission, and i would like to convert it to something like a 5-speed. About how much does all that cost? Or do you guys that have done it before have any imput? And what are all the parts I need?

you would be better off trying to find a 5 speed truck then you got all the parts you can get a wrecked one with no motor for around 500-2500 (around here)

id go with a 5 spd. the nv4500s are alot more reliable than the 6 speeds. and they have the same od gear. plus you can find alot more parts for the nv4500. plus they weigh and cost less than a 6 speed

6 speeds are realy spendy to buy and alot spendyer to fix, i made the mistake of buying on by the time i get all the parts to put it in il have 4k in it, and the od gears are almost the same, five speeds are .75 in od and 6 speeds are .73 in od

If you tow enough the middle gears are worth it. Also if you sled pull itll give you more options for different final drive ratios in 4lo and 4hi
