Question fuel pressure question? fuel filter or over flow valve?

I finally got a temp gauge hooked up at the line from filter to injection pump. My pressure is around 10 psi. I pinched the return line and it goes to 60 psi so does that mean my filter is plugged or the ofv is going out?

How do you know if the filter is clogged ?

thanks

Pinching the rubber line and having the pressure go up usually means that your lift pump is in good condition.

Could be filter - but its more likely the overflow valve.

How many miles are on the truck? When was the overflow valve changed last?

You may also want to clean your prefilter. Very easy to do, remove the bottom of the prefilter, clean and replace. Theres no realy reason to get a new filter unless yours is boogered:

Question

I have no heater or pre screen if I am correct.

My line goes right to filter than to pump. I took the heater off.

I was just wondering if you can tell. I guess not.

ofv was replaced about 3 yrs ago.

Filters are cheap if you havent chaged it within the last year - change it. Diesel fuel is notoriously dirty and full of water compared to other fuels.

I got a new filter and I can change it. I just thinking there has to be a way to see which one it is without replacing it. Esp when you are on the road and it reads low....
