Tranny wont last long at all, definately better upgrade the trans before the motor, believe me I know from experience. I have been there a few times

I have a billet auto for sale with a triple disk converter and two valve bodies if you are interested.

Yes I'd go with the sdx. They are barely more cost-wise, produce less smoke, less egt's, MORE power compared to the marines, and get way better mileage.

The sdx have a rather large advantage power wise and economy-wise over marines. Your automatic WILL blow apart after a fuelplate, let alone putting injectors in it.

Doesn't matter the tranny is going to go very very fast the second you do more than just an intake and exhaust on the truck.

Hmmm... Sounds like no matter how I do it I have to upgrade the tranny. That's going to be really expensive isn't it??

Yep you pretty much do. Autos suck brother (ya they shift faster.. whatever). Your looking at 4-5g to rebuild your tranny to hold the power.

Ya I feel ya. It's gonna be expensive either way you go about it. But keep in mind, get that trans rebuilt and its going to last forever. Assuming you are keepign the truck forever, thats a good plus-side.

yeh trannies suck dont they? a triple disk converter and a vavle body and that should help out a lot... it wont be super strong tho... and for the tug of war.... traction is the name of the game... and unless you have weight in your bed anybody with single rear wheels will tow you around in a circle... think about it.... a dually and a standard both have the same weight on the rear end... but the dually has twice the tire area... thus spreading the weight around causing the dually to have less psi from the tires to the ground.. so add about 2k in the bed and you'll win everytime
