When it does rev to 1000 then die has it been sitting for a while?

The timing will help it run better on the big end. However, your hard start may be attributed to your GSK. If they aren't setup just perfect they can cause a hard start condidtion.

Even when they are setup perfect it can still happen (though a bit more rare).

But, everybody's advice to check fuel pressure would be wise as well.

The p-pump like pressure and dislikes low or no pressure.

I agree...GSK's set too tight will do most of your symptoms, especially if the two spring packs aren't balanced. Only other thought is a leaking O/F valve, but a fuel pressure test will give that up.

Vote #3 for GSK. That sounds exactly like they're cranked too tight.

I was thinknig O/F myself. My 97 was doing that.
