Default I think I'm screwed, big time.

Well I think I may be cursed with driving this truck up to school. I was headed up today cruising about 65 at 2200 and all of a sudden I felt a bunch of vibration coming up through my shifter. I thought at first that 5th gear was coming loose again and down shifted into 4th. The vibration I was feeling turned out to be a heavy knock coming from the engine. I looked in the mirror and could see a bunch of blue/black smoke. Pulled over along I-81. Still had good oil pressure engine temp was around 190F. Checked the oil and it was a little bit low maybe a quart under the add mark. Oil looked and smelled good. Check coolant it was perfect. Put a gallon of oil in and the level is now a quart over full. Started the engine again still had a horrible knock and heavy smoke that is a dark grey color without hardly any throttle input.

What do you guys think? I'm scared I might of spun a bearing, dropped a valve, or maybe blew the tip off an injector because of the heavy smoke.

maybe a injector went south you can loosen each injector fuel line one at a time till you
find what cylinder it is then pull that injector out and see what it looks like. but if its a heavy knock its likley lower end,
i had a delivery valve holder break off just inside the pump and it smoked and knocked to.

I'm not starting the engine again until I know more. When I get home on friday I will pull all the injectors and check each one. These are stock 215 injectors.

I cracked each injection line at the injectors and it made no difference.

Check timing on pump might have slipped the gear a little.

I doubt that slipped timing would sound like a rod knocking.
