Default How Hot Is Too Hot

I'm running about 1400 pre-turbo at WOT.

I have a 180 pump with a 10 plate and a boost elbow, as well as a 3gsk. I also have a 4 inch turbo back exhaust and a K and N filter. Everything else is stock. How can i lower my temp.

Am I doing damage running this hot???

Also is there a way to adjust the Boost Elbow to gain more boost and lower my EGT, I am about 26-28 PSI at WOT.

keep it under 1250. you can turn that allen screw in the boost elbow a little tighter. stop at about 33 psi of boost. stock turbo runs out of steam at about 35 and then it starts pushing hot air.

check for boost leaks. the smallest ones can gain u 100* on EGT's.

i don't think your truck has any major problems though. that's about what i'd expect with the mods you have.

it might be my imagination but i removed my silencer ring and i swear my EGT's dropped about 100*'s. try it yourself maybe.

those egts actually seem kinda high for what the truck has, crank that boost elbow in a little bit and see if that helps

Thats actually pretty normal. When my truck was stock I could hit 1400* at WOT. Right about 1400* is when the valves start to anneal. As long as that is not sustained for a long period of time your ok. A lot of us that are fueling hard see anywhere from 1600-2000* in a quarter mile but it's only doing it for 11-12 seconds. Thats why you should get twins.

Its actually in the works. Just gotta let Nathan Wright perfect his new set-up and then I'll have to get a full blown Stage V tranny to hold the power.

You can make boost without being under load. Sure is easier to do with a high idle mod but if you dont have that then get some to rev up to about 1200 rpm's and get a water bottle and start sprayin around. Usually if you have a leak you will know it without having to spray water.
