Default atf?

the dip stick says the mopar fluid or dexon II where is the atf+4 comein from? would the atf+4 mix with the dex fluid? bc i put the dex fluid in the tranni last and i just put my tc in and put the atf4 in the tc and i would need to fill up the pan at least half. so could i use the dex or the atf4 or i have to use all the same fluid? might be dumb question but i heard could mix as long as ones not a synthetic

X2 on mixing, mixing ATF thats a no no. Because each one has different friction addatives in it. ATF 4 is a better fluid, I would drain it and use just one or the other. Better to be safe than sorry.

ive been running valvoline max-life for 40k miles with 20k mile service intervals. Its listed to be a full synthetic thats compatible with dex/merc fluids. Its still as tight or tighter than any automatic ive driven.

Still would drop it and only run one type of fluid, My good freind is an automatic guru he was a builder at Certified Transmission, you wouldn't catch him dead mixing ATF in his truck.

it has better friction modifiers in it. I know all the newer dodge automatics (03 and newer) come with ATF+4, and thats what is recommended for them. it wont ask for it on a truck built in 94 because ATF+4 didnt exsist yet.
