id even say 4.88 or even 5.13

i think 4.88 or 5.13 is getting a little low, you dont wanna go to low or the motor will wanna rev all of the time and if it is reving it well defuel and not put hp or tourqu,

but 3.54 is deff to high for 40 " tires

yeah with 40'' tires and 3:54 gears, that is a lot of stress on your drive shaft and pinion. i would go with a 4:56 at the fastest and prob a 5:13 at the slowest depending on how and where you drive.

lower gears will lessen the stress for everything

that is correct. the only think thats kinda the down side is with slower gears the pinion head gets smaller, which in tern has less teeth contacting the ring gear. this makes it suffer some in the strength department. unless you out doing hard launches all the time or dumb stuff its not really a problem.

after all the money i have put into it and the price of a 40" tire i dont do much crazy stuff. it does do a one tire fire pretty good though.
