^Ouch harsh words on Farm Boy? Everybody on powerstrokediesel.org has had good luck with fbd. I guess the cummins crowd doesnt lol.
So would 3" flex-pipe suffice?? That flexy exhaust piping? Or would it have to be actual exhaust piping? Thats not a half bad idea and would be a good way of blowing one day out of the weekend hehe. BTW your common rail looks boss |
Exhaust on all the 2nd generations are 3 inch back to the last part of the tailpipe which opens up to 4inch.
Remember if you cut the cat and muffler out to bend the pipe with the same offset so you do not have to modify the clamps or hangers at all. I would not use flex pipe as you do not want the tailpipe to have any chance at moving around, but, its your truck not mine. You can buy the muffler elimination kit from Geno's Garage for about $70 with a clamp. |
I'm going to keep my tail pipe hooked up, so the tail pipe still has stability from that rear hanger. If I get flex pipe, cut the cat and muffler off and hook the flex pipe up to the stock hung tail pipe, that should suffice until I can get a real exhaust underneath me shouldn't it? If ANYTHING I can put some coat hangers up or wire under there until I can get the real deal mounted

Im sure the flex pipe is going to cost more than the straightpipe. My straightpipe was like $30. I dont think the flex pipe is teh way to go. Do it right.
Oh and FYI Gus from Farmboys Diesel is a real piece of work. Hes even ripped off some of our staff... |
Thanks man and yea a chunk of pipe will be ALOT better and cheaper and then you won't have to rig up any coat hangers....

From the begining of the cat to the end of the muff yes. This is what I did on my 2000 before I bought 4".

Ya I'm def. gonna get an mbrp or farm boy diesel 4-5" sooner or later, but I just need a quick fix to a break in my exhaust line for right now. I've got a few other issues to clear up before I get my goodies :(
