Popping/Clunking Sound

Popping/Clunking Sound
I have a random clunk/pop kind of sound coming from the truck when i get on the brakes to slow down. It doesn't happen as soon as I touch the pedal but when I start slowing down. All my tie rods are good, track bar is good, ball joints have a little play and that was my first suspect but I was reading about a bushing in the steering column that can go bad and it causes a clunking sound and I was wondering it that could be the culprit. I just turned over 250K miles.....Anyone happen to have this issue before? Also is there anyone besides Top Gun that sells new tubular control arms for my '98? I'd like to just swap them out when I do the ball joints.

Had the same problem. Mine was the upper ball joints. They had just a little play in them. replaced them and it solved the problem. 250,000 miles is alot for the truck (not engine). stuffs gonna wear out unfortunatly. Not saying that bushing isnt your prob, just sayin i had the same deal and it was ball joints. Good luck
