Thats a great tipn on the diesel mechanich for sure! I live in marietta Ga, bout 20 miles north of Atlanta. Anyone know of a guy near me? I thought of something else that would set off bad mileage. Dirty injectors. Or do they go bad? I read alot of you guys changed yours, I assume for more power. I DO want a guy to help me work on this truck though. Definatly gotta get the GSK installed!

I imagine it's 35 gallons. You don't have the owners manual in the glove box?
It'll be stated there.

It should git close to or better than 20
Injectors could be going out. Have your injectors checked. Maybe that mods will not hurt.

I would wager that driving style affects it too. I know when I had my 6spd psd, me and every other 6spd 2wd guy out there got around 20mpg city and 23-24highway stock (well with exhaust/intake). Cummins of the same stature, from what I've read get about 24mpg highway an 22mpg city. I've had issues with mine though and now that I've got my plate in I've been messing around a lot.

No, number one is kerosene.

Tank capacity has nothing to do with mileage per gallon, as I imagine most of you know.

Here are the grades of fuel oil. Number one is more highly refined than number two (diesel), and so on down the line.

But it has plenty to do if you're using it as a guide to calculate the miles per gallon. I mean if he was figuring a tank of gas to be 20 gallons and based his calculations from that... that could factor as 12 mpg; when really it would be closer to 20mpg with a 35 gallon tank.

You dont figure on how big the tank is; you figure on the exact amount of gallons you fill up with. If it only takes you 18 gallons to fill up, you dont use 30 or 35 gallons just because thats the size of your tank. Amount of gallons it takes to fill up divided by miles travelled.

Well now, that works if you run the vehicle out of fuel, hoof it to the next filling station with your two gallon container, hoof it back to your vehicle....
