Default new 97 12v question

just got the truck, went to change fluids and there is no stick on the dipstick, just the cap that says "oil"... Can anyone tell me how long their stick is? from the cap to end? and how many inches up the stick is the add mark?

can you pull your dipstick tube and make sure its not in the tube somewhere that would be one of the first things you need to do if you havent done that already

well thanks man, I couldnt sleep and pulled the tube out and its blanko... I got a cummins stick from an IDM??? motor, but it is definatly too long. I could easily cut it to fit with those digits if it isnt too much trouble

sounds like you got the problem fixed but for in the future and for all you guys looking to buy a truck make sure you check the oil trans and coolant before you buy. sometimes looking at these things is a good indecation of how the previous owner treated the vehicle.
