Default voltage and electrical question

hey guys, i just put in two new awesome batteries in my truck. but my guage still worries me. when its cold out and the heaters run. the guage just moves up to barly under the white line, but when the heaters shuts off it moves to right after the white line. but my buddys 02 24v even when its cold at the heaters run his guage shoots right up. i dont get it. i took my turbo off the day i got them so i accually havent started it yet in the cold with the new batteries. my old ones were junk. both load tested bad when i took them out. but its my guage situation ok?

clean everything! terminals, grounds, the cables... you'd be amazed how a big problem can be caused by something really small. i was havin an electrical issue with mine, voltage gauge low, check engine light, no overdrive or lock up. i thought it was the alternator or the pcm... it turned out to be a broken battery cable end. had to laugh but im glad i found it before i went replacin the expensive stuff
