EGR valve removal '97 12 valve
Can someone tell me or point me in the direction of where I can find a write up on how to remove the egr valve system and cross over on a 1997 12 valve dodge equipted with the california edition polution control junk.
P.S. I live in Idaho where you don't need this stuff.
I will be installing a #10 plate along with a 3k RPM governor spring kit this weekend and want to keep my EGT's as low as possible. I heard the EGR stuff increases your temp.

I don't have a digital camera. You may find a pic on the internet. But it is basically a tube that crosses from the exhaust manifold to the intake. I don't think there are any electrical sensors since it is a mechanical engine. My thought is that i could just block off both sides with a cap and seal it with a high temp sealant. I just wanted to be sure this wouldn't cause further problems.

alright heres a picture of it get rid of the tube, weld a plate over the manifold, or get a new manifold, make a block off plate for the intake side and use the gasket thats on there now, or get a new intake, the hole in the side of it may cause some turbulance in the flow, you can find stock manifolds on ebay cheap, also you can get rid of all that vacuum crap thats on the maifold itself, im not sure about that sensor on there i would say you can just unplug it, i dont know if it will give you a check engine light or not, but all that crap is egr related the non california trucks dont have it

Thanks...
Done deal. I fabbed up some 1/4 inch plate using the gaskets as a template. I reused the gaskets and torqued them down with the plates. I stuck a golf tee into the vacume line to block it off and taped it in. Every thing seems to work all right and no error codes so I'm Happy. Now to get rid of that Cat and muffler. Thanks for the Help
