Default Need Tranny help 12v

I have a 1996 ram 2500 4x4. Its starting off in second. I can manually down shift to first but have no 3rd or OD. O and it also seems to be leaking fluid from where idk i havent been able to look at it in the light yet. Ive been told it might have something to do with the govenor but idk. Any ideas? And also what tranny comes in this truck? Any help on the subject would be great.

I had the same prob with my old truck. It would always take off in 2 gear. I took the TPS apart and cleaned it. That seemed to do the trick. This was after I dropped the pan and serviced the transmission including adjusting the bands.

I'd service your tranny, and fix that leak. After you do that take the TPS off and clean it, or buy a new one. I've had to replace my tps seems like every year now, it either gets wet or just shorts out. The TPS its self is nothing but problems and is expensive to replace, but I'm glad mine comes with a 2 year warranty! Heres just a little tip if you plan on replacing it and you buy a new one somewhere it has a warranty, when you take your old one off keep it and then you can always return it later and get a new one, that way you'll have 2 working TPS. Thats what i did

So come to find out i broke the bigger of the two shift bands. I snapped the end right off of it and it was sitting on top of the valve body. As for the leak a tranny line was rubbing up against the tranny and wore out. Tranny was pulled today. Should be up and running tomarrow night if not the day afta.

Yea, one of my tranny lines had a leak in it due to the lines rubbing together!
