Default cooling/heating system

ok......on the passenger side of my block there is a canister about 12-14 inches long it close to the bellhousing and it looks like it it is hooked into the cooling system....anyone know what it is? it looks like some kinnda filter?????

its an oil cooler

Technically it's the transmission heat exchanger. It sits under the turbo right? It should have two trans cooler lines running to it.

Nope....it uses the coolant to warm or cool the trans fluid to operating temp. Some bypass it because of twins or when they do a rebuild but it must be replaced with a cooler of good size because they thing removes a TON of heat from the fluid.
