Default Well might as well build the motor now :(

Well I smucked up the front bumper on the 97 today. I figured since Its off already I pull the rest off and start my 600-650HP build. I want good reliable useable power.

Look at my mods now. I will be going to twins some day so keep that in mind for suggestions. I also will be replacing any leaking seals, adding a 5" lift, and cleaning up the engine ie. painting valve covers ect. I will also be replacing things like the over flow, the starting silonoid, and all steering parts.

I dont want to be pulling engine inturnals and modding them our stock ones are great as is. I was thinking a fluid dampener, studs, orings or maybe CR gasket, more timing, maybe some water injection no meth, elec. fans and upgrade the fuel delivery system Ie. Airdog or same

I would say bump up the timming about 2* and get some studs if not fire ring the head. Get your twins and tweak the pump a little and you should be st yourr goal. Good luck!

Studs and O-rining the head are a must for the HP you want.

At least a .010 headgasket and possibly a .020 marine headgasket depending on what or how much of the head they need to remove to square it.

Injectors are big enough to support 600,charger may be on the small side as a single but in a twins setup it will shine.

Bigger DV's,More governor spring and at least 20 degrees of timing will be needed to ensure the proper amount of fuel and better ignition of the fuel.

The one problem many do not take into consideration is when a 12v truck crosses the 500hp plateau it does get smoky,no matter if its twinned or has a big single. This is why you will find many owners only tuning to be above the 500 mark and keeping their trucks at the 600 and above for shows or competition.I have mine at 550 on fuel alone with a big HTT single charger and I can tell you how it does haze as the lower quarter panel is black all the time and the tailgate will get covered also.I have detuned it some for winter as at the power level I am at it creates a issue driving on slick winter roads with the low end torque thats available. It means driving around in 4wd at times when other can scoot by you in 2wd.

I like the big single and the power it makes but I am going to have a second charger hung below it this year to make the combination more efficent and more street friendly and lower the haze.........Andy

There are ways aroung the hazing, just remember not to overfuel your motor, like stated 12v do get a little to crazy on the smoke sometimes, but if tuned properly can be tamed a little.

Sounds like your on the right track, I'm a big fan of the o-ring, your going to need it anyhow. You may be father ahead to start internal, build up a good base, then bolt on the easy stuff. You will definitely want a new fuel system too 200gph min. No sense in doing stuff twice, like those 3k springs ya got, (get 4)
