Default runnin right

i was having a problem with my truck for a while now n i finally got it fixed today but im not really sure what i did that fixed it. sometimes when i hit the throttle, the motor would not sound right n i could only hit 20 psi, but then other times it would hit 35 n sound perfect. i got really tired of it today so i started tearin into it. i pulled the 100 fuel plate out, backed the starwheel off to about the middle of the plug. now every time i hit the skinny pedal, i can get 35psi no problem. anybody have any idea what i fixed? im not complaining by any means, just wonderin. im now runnin plateless, but i have the starwheel back far enough its close to bein smokeless. i really got tired of smokin out the whole road whenever i touched the throttle
