Default valve cover gaskets

truck has over 215,000 miles and has started to show some weakness. Was going to start with checking the gap on the valves. When i pull the valve covers will i need new gaskets or can a guy usually re-use them?

If they are original you will need new ones. Valve are set at .010 intake and .020 exhaust. Check all of the boost hose clamps from the turbo to the intake.

i owuldnt re-use them, espcially after so many miles.. shouldnt be to expensive.. jsut remember to not tighten them down to much, or you will have some nasty oil leaks

My dodge has about the same mileage ,had to change out the rocker gaskets at the end of the summer the old ones were cooked hard and leaking.
put some fresh gaskets on.

i would go with genuine cummins gaskets. i bought some from a local parts store, and 4 of them split in two.

if there not leaking now, and still seem to be soft, i would just reuse them myself.

good luck
