the filter on the driver side kinda under the brake resivor is the fuel filter right? How often you supose to change it?

 

Yes thats the correct location. I believe its every 6k or 10k miles

 

that would be it, on my stock one, i would change it every two oil changes, so around 10k. some say thats to often, but thats how i done my, some change theres every oil change. it depends .on the person, and quality of fuel u use. good luck

 

i wonder if using an additive will shorten the life of a filter ? cause half a quart of oil n half a quart of power services every 3 tanks its preety thick

I would user the primer bulb on the pump and pushed it until the OFV was squealing than started the truck up.

or you can fill the filter full of diesel before you put it back on. that has always worked for me.

 

The right way to knowwhen to change your filter is to monitor your fuel pressure. A filter might last 30,000 miles,or it might be bad in 300 miles from a bad tank of fuel.
