Exclamation how bad

So I cracked my radiator today on the drivers side where the flange attaches to the resivoir I guess what I'm wondorin is did I lift my head I drained the oil and thers no signs of coolant in it or anything for that matter the truck didn't overheat and the exhaust doesn't have the coolant smell to it but I know that pressurized coolant points to a bad headgasket. Now for question 2. What's the pros and cons of both fire rings and o rings and how much am I gonna have to shell out for either I know I have to have the block and head machined for the 14mm headstuds I bought I don't want to use them now cus funds are short. Also what gasket should I get the 090 marine gasket or another type and where can I get a good one thanks guys I appreciate any help I can get oh yeah if someones got a spare set of 12mm studs that the would trade for a timing set and 100 bucks or so let me know thanks

it couold be something as small as your radiator cap isnt working properly OR your rad is just old an wore out....

on to your other questions orings are most commonly used on the street they are more user friendly than firerings you an take the head off as many times as you want and the only thing you need to replace is the gasket unlike firerings which require you to replace the rings AND to run them you must have a special headgasket to have my head cut and rings installed it was 300.00$ every shop is different in their prices firerings you have to cut but the head and block orings you can do either the head the block or both of them

the headgasket i would use a standard thickness cummins gasket for the reason that thicker will lower the compression and may cause hard starts in cold weather i have also heard that the thicker gaskets are not as strong

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

another thing with firerings is if they burn out from not allowing the engine to heat and cool evenly they can leak coolant into the combustion chamber
