i took out my trans. is there a way to get the part out where the shifter hooks to the shaft that hooks to the shift folks. i seen that there are to pins in it. is there and easy way to put it back in. when taking it out the top of the shift folk housing where the shifter hooks on got caught on my floor. we had to put it on a really bad angle to get it out.

Default this fork?

The fork on the Fifth gear show below? You can drive out the two roll pins with a 5/32 punch to remove the fork.

guys, he's talking about after you remove the shifter **** from inside the cab if you can then remove the stub that still sticks up out of the shifter. i don't think you can. the correct way is to leave the entire top of the transmission off when re-installation. you put the top up in the truck, then seat your transmisssion and then use a wrench to join the two back together. another method and it's up to you but when inside your truck and looking down thru the hole. you can cut the metal towards the rear of the hole and almost fillet it open and that allowed me to put my entire transmission fully assembled back in fairly easily. just be careful not to catch the carpet with the shifter stub still sticking up when re-installation. this was already done on my truck by the previous owner so i didn't have to do it, but i did utilize the method and it worked very well. i just pushed the metal back flush and the carpet covers everything up and remains looking the same. good luck man

Mine has four bolts in the top of the case i pulled them out and took the shifter out that way. taped over the hole in the top of the trans and doing it that way everything was already below the floor so it was simple in and out then bolted it back together.

green monster, you must have the newer nv4500, or an altered shifter tower. if this is the case with ltr450 then that will work as well.

you push down on the top around the shifter with two screwdrivers turning it lefty a quarter turn and it pops out. it has a spring that keeps it down
