Default starter problems

so, my start sylenoid will lift and stay up when lifted manually. i ordered a new nte relay and tried it today expecting it to work, but it didn't. when you run a jumper across the relay, you can pop the sylenoid up and it stays up to start the truck. why does the jumper work but not when the new relay is installed. am i missing something?

i got it boys. the sylenoid only pops when the ignition is turned and the truck starts. i thought that with the key in the on position, i could pull the sylenoid up and it would stay if the new relay was working. but i was wrong... i did figure it out tho
