Changing diff oil - torque spec?

Default Changing diff oil - torque spec?

I'm changing my front diff oil on a 96 4x4

does anybody know the specs?

You dont need to torque it to spec. Clean up the flanges and goop it up with some silicone, let it tack up, put the cover back on, use 3/8" ratchet, and then torque in a cross pattern until it feels right.

If you took the cover off you should basically know how tight the bolts were.

I didn't have any torque spec on our application guide either, so it must not be a big concern. I used the same specs as the Doc

just dont over tighten or snap them off; that's about as close as your going to get for a torque spec... heavy pressure with a 1/4 inch drive or moderate to light pressure with a 3/8 depending on the length
