1st cummins,, good deal?
theirs a truck in my neighborhood forsale im thinking of buying it tomoro. its a 1994 2500 reg cab 8ft bed...has brand new rugs, headliner, pillar guages,cd player, really really clean inside 161k miles auto 4x4, has like no rust smal smal spot starting on passenger wheel well but still hard as a rock.tailgate has a few dings on top but truck is really CLEAN. owner bought it off a buddy, i talked to both supposedly transfer case and tranny have been rebuilt, stock injectors but fuel plate mod. i have not driven yet because hes getting brake lines done, tomoro i will drive. hes asking $5500 obo told me hed sell it for 5 g's. has an electric brake controller, running boards, plow prep, tow pkg, strobe lights....is this truck worth 5 grand if it runs good? is their anything i should look out for? also has a 6 inch exhaust muffler back. please give me some tips, its my first personal diesel ive been around them though my dad has an 06 duramax.

yeh thats a steal imo... if it runs good... if it doesnt then... no... hahah ask how many miles are on the rebuildt tranny n tcase... also what they all did to them...and ask for a reciept or proff of rebuild so you know that they arent lying... also ask about the kdp (killer dowel pin) and ask if has been tabbed.. if he knows nything about 2nd gen dodges... he'll know what that is... ask about the traction bar and ball joints.. and when they were last replaced.... also see what fuel plate he has in there... when you start it up make sure she starts good i.e doesnt click... doesnt die or stall and doesnt crank for more then 5 seconds... thats all i can think of!!! hope it helps!!!

so even cold she should fire within 5 seconds? when i test driveill probably just beat on it make sure it shifts smooth. what u mean by clicking?like you can hear a constant click while it cranks? what if it does tick...im just hoping ot dont need $500 worth of front end work when i get it home and that the tranny is actually rebuilt...i mean they seem legit the owner owns a $3.5million farm, i hope to god hes not trying to scam me.

if the kdp isnt tabbed yet how hard and expensive is it to tab? if it already popped out how can i tell?

The truck will leak oil from the timing cover if it's cracked from the pin getting caught in something after it comes out.Or the pin may have just fallin into the oil pan IF it came out.Take a look at the seal between the the block and the timing case cover if see if the cover has ever been removed. The steps to putting a cover over the pin should be in this section somewhere.Basicly remove the fan shroud, fan, vibration dampner, and cover. Some people also remove the radiator and intercooler. Then you can remove the bolt next to the pin. Some people buy the plate and some make it,it's up to you. Some people also replace the front crank seal to while the cover is off.Put the tab over the pin,put a little lock tite on it and tighten the bolt back down.
