Yea...It's not fun. I always use a short impact burst to take the pump nut off. Some wobble extensions make it much easier on the inner pump nuts. Dont forget the pump brackets under the pump. If you need torque specs let me know!

To those of you reading this, I would like to make a very important statement
FIX IT BEFORE IT COMES OUT.... This job in a shop is ATLEAST a $4,000 job including new gaskets, new case, all that good stuff.

This repair isnt for the weak at heart, Getting the cam out can be a pain if a tappet falls, and you'll be in for a even bigger job!

well all the broken stuff is off, im gonna try to get the case welded, just a few issues, i need the gasket that goes between the gear housing and the block, and the key on the injection pump shaft disappeared when the gear finally broke loose, came off the shaft, n landed on my foot... any body know where i can get either of these things?

first off there is no key there is a slot for a key but it doesn have one if the gear was keyed to the shaft you would not be able to adjust you timing. second you can get the gasket from any diesel shop if you have trouble finding it ask Mr. Kilcoyne or Mr. Jhonson at the school there are the two engines teachers and they would either be able to order it for you or they could tell you where to order it from. if you want i can ask for you if you dont know who those two teachers are. and last try not to drop the gear espically not on you foot

The pump is not timed by where the teeth are located. Your pump is a press on gear. To properly time the pump you need a special tool kit. Puredieselpower sells them that I know of. Also for any Cummins parts I recommend getting them from Mumau Diesel in PA, you call him with what you are after and he can tell you what you need and anything you might have forgot.
