from what lil i know, pump tunning consists of having adjusting the afc to suit the fuel plate u r running. maybe some one with a lil more knowledge on p-pumps will chime in here with better information.
I think of it as two stages
On the truck
Tuning on the truck is mostly AFC and gov setup. It takes time to learn how to setup an AFC and what the truck is telling you but over time you'll get it figured out. It would consist of plate mods AFC springs and how tight your star wheel is. You would be amazed at how pulling fuel out can help with turbo lag. This is honestly a lot of trial and error.
Off the truck
This is a little more for the guy shooting for 600+ first is a rack plug and the next step would be turning barrels and then balancing it on a bench to get the most amount of fuel your pump can give. 500 + cc's of fuel is way more than any daily driver needs.
Someone could spend 8 hours writing about how to and why those are the basics.
