need pump help
okay so i was just reading the thread "turn up pump?" by country boy and they were talking about a bolt on the back of the pump with a 3 mm allen bolt set screw and a 10 mm bolt around it?
where can i find this i have been looking on my pump and cant find it?

iff your trying to boost your 95 there is no fuel screw. on top rear of pump under the afc housing there is a fuel plate. slid it forward and afc housing forward. if it is pre 94 than underneath a tin cone shaped piece there is a 10 mm nut that is where ur fuel pin is
I think he is talking about the smoke screw. This screw will increase or decrease the amount of off idle fuel. If the 3mm is screwed in it pre-loads the AFC spring moving the AFC foot forward with out boost. Please correct me if this doesn't sound right.
sounds right to me relay; i believe that is what he's trying to adjust. (simply put turning it in = more fuel on take off) there's a tin cover over the screw held on by two other screws. also as haymafia was saying if you slide your fuel plate forward you'll also get gains (you should be able to slide it full forward with out any adverse effects to the drive train or internal temps. it'll raise them but nothing that you need a gauge to keep an eye on (unless you tow alot and have a tendancy to lug the engine) otherwise plate full forward and afc tweaks you'll get a nice bit of smoke and torque with atleast a 30 horse gain
my truck does have the "smoke screw" with the cap over it but you are saying if i do slide the plate forward it wont hurt anything? cuz i heard it will destroy your tc
Do you have a pyrometer and boost guage? YOU ABSOULTELY need them or you risk major damage.
Yes, you can slide it forward - but it doesnt have to go all the way forward. A little is a LOT in this case. Yes, it can be hard on the tranny but how you drive and use the power is a major consideration.

i just slid our 98's plate FF and then back about 1/16th of an inch... it isnt a major improvement but the bennefits are subtle and deffinately there; getttin up to highway speeds are cake and the truck has a nice pull that'll set ya in the seat when the TC locks.
i do have to agree with Dr. Evil any fuel mods a pyro is recommended with or without intake, turbo and exhaust upgrades. just with the upgrades it takes a little more fuel to get the same temps. and most will tell you a boost gauge isn't necessary but they're vital in troubleshooting and just plain fun
and also as he said it's how you use that power.easy on the skinny pedal is easy on the trans. you can milk some minor mods and change the characteristics of the truck w/o destroying it. atleast until you can eliminate weak links

yes i do have gauges but there is one problem with the pyro i think its right at the down pipe not on the manifold is that gonna affect wether i can read the temps right or no?
the truck never goes above 900 as of now but i dont know how effective it is
am i safe?
