Default Oil pressure

i noticed today that my oil pressure is at 40 while im driving and once i stop and the truck comes to an idle it drops down to around 20. I checked oil and its got plenty and no oil leaks is this normal? Anyone else had this happen or know what it could be?

I have no idea what it could be, but I know mine stays at 40 whenever I'm sitting still and never goes below, and creeps up to about 45-48 I'd say when driving unloaded. Dunno if that helps, but maybe it's a good point of reference.

try hooking a mechanical one up to it the gauge could be wrong 20 pounds of oil press is not good how many miles are on this motor

264,000 the gauge moves all over never goes in the "danger" zone but likes to move with the rpms. my mechanic buddy thought it maybe the oil pressure switch under the injection pump, i was leaking power steering fluild all over it.

Default Normal

sounds about normal to me,,,40 to 45 is normal while driving and 20 to 25 at idle...thats what our marine 6bt runs at and my 97 runs right around 45 at 2k and 25 at idle also if i recall the manual would say your 20 at idle and 40 at 2k is normal operating perameters.

Thats where mine runs. Anywhere between 20 psi and 90 (when I start it up at -30)
