Its tough to check the pyrometer - but you can easily check the boost guage if you have access to an air compressor. Crank down the regulator on the compressor to 25 pounds or so and attach the gauge to the hose and see what it reads.

Are you around any diesel performance shops? Or even big rig repair shops? You might be able to get the pyro tested.

There are pyrometer testers:

ISSPRO Product Categories

I do not know if they just test the thermocouple itself or if they test the thermocouple and guage together.

I prefer guages that are meant for diesel applications. Isspro and DiPricol fit the bill.

if you get a pyrometer for a diesel from autometer then it is ment for diesel applications.they have them for diesel, and they have them for gas burners,i'm just saying that all in all you can't go wrong with autometer they've been in the game a long time/

Im not argueing here but if your think that experience means something - Isspro has been making guages for 60 years.

And Im not saying autometer isnt good - but I have seen a few people say they wernt happy with theirs. Just throwing that out there.
