alright so i've decided that before i do nything is to give my truck some get up n go... im gonna work of my tranny i've been talkin to guys at work and all of them have said that it wouln't be a bad idea to just replace the auto with a 5 speed. Wut do u guys think?? if i could get a donnor truck would that be a good investment?? or does nybody sell dodge 5speeds?? i dont know if im gunna do it or not... but i thought i would ask yall before i make a decision. (that spelling right there would explain my C- in english! )

i dunno about 4500. ive found several around here and at the top end was around 1500 at the salvage yards for the nv4500, the one youre interested in. rebuild kits with all new bearings, seals, bushings, etc. can be had for a couple hundred bucks if you want to go that route.
im going to do the swap when my auto craps out. after running the math on it, if you do the work yourself, you can count on spending somewhere in the neighborhood of $3500 if you use salvage hard parts. keep in mind here that that price is for a 350-400 hp clutch. that job cost blows up quick if youre going to try to build big power.
and 3500-4000 is still cheaper than a built auto...
