Removing Starter??

Default Removing Starter??

my buddy has a 94 cummins and we are trying to remove the starter and got one of the bolts out but cant seem to figure out how to get the 2 others out..they seem to be some kind of torx head but we cant get a regualar torx socket on there...anybody know how to get them out??

You need a 10 mm 12 point socket or wrench. They can be really snug - you might need a 1/2" breaker bar.

they are a pain in the *** top get out especially when they havent been out yet. i had to use a 10mm 12pt box end wrench with a 1" wrench as a cheater bar

x3. its a 12 point. I don't know how they look in the dodges but I was able to get mine pretty easily with an extension.

there a pain in the *** to get to in the dodge. the top one that is closest to the block you have to get to threw the driver fender and the other two you have to be under the truck

Those bolts will snap the box end off of cheap 10mm 12pt wrenches.

thats why you use craftsman, craftsman wrenches are the only tools i have from craftsman everything else is harbor freight

A really long extension for the top one by the block.

that would work as well but i have my fuel filter relocate kit in the way to try that procedure

we finally got it off!!! we used a craftsman 10mm boxed end wrench and a 2 foot bar off a 3 point hitch as a cheater bar! hahaha they were a pain in the *** especially the top one as u guys said. thanks for they help!!!!
