But have you thought about whats left in your engine after you have burned it? ATF is not supposed to be burned.

Why not use an additive that is designed to be burned? Like TCW-3 2 stroke oil or a fuel additive like Powerservice, or Howes lubricator??

I've heard from a couple petrochemical guys that brand new ATF can cause abrasive crystals to form in the oil and do some nasty scoring in places. On the other hand, if you can get the ATF after its been used then the harmful additives have broken down to levels that don't cause any issues.

My dad and I are burning ~30-40% ATF mixes right now (double filtered to 3 microns) and there hasn't been any trouble out of either truck. The trucks run a lot quieter than when there's just diesel in the tank too.

I'm just saying what people have told me. I don't run any additives.

where are you getting the used fluid from ? Local trans shops or something ? I would think they would be happy to sell the stuff for cheap cheap .

Yea, we get it from a couple different trans guys.

Just talk to the manager and they are happy to sell it to you. We get 55 gal for 20 bucks, it may be a little more or less depending on how things are going where you are.

I personally never liked the idea of burning products that arent really designed to be burned. 2 cycle motor oil is designed to burn ashless. Why take a chance on doing some possible damage down the road? We used to have a waste oil furnace and I seen the hard carbon build ups on the misting nozzle from ATF or any other used waste oil products and that was even filtered. Always made me wonder what it would do inside an engine and injectors.
