i was lookin under the hood of my truck a few min ago and i see this cover stickin out, i think this is the tappet cover? its between the pump and the block. look at the pix and tell me if this is normal or if somethings wrong.

 

i think what your meaning is it is separating from the block?? Thats what it looks like to me at least...i doesnt look like its leaking anything...maybe a bolt backed off??

 

thats just insolation (if i spelled that right) mine has the same to keep the block warm in the winter

 

ya thats all that crap is, insolation. i didnt even bother putting any back on mine afte rebuilding the engine becasue of the paint. you may have an tiny oil leak and that can be fixed by tightening the 5 or 6 10mm nuts on the outside. acesible from the wheelwell

Leaking oil? Thats your side cover. and it looks to be pulling away from the block....

 

just the insolation pulling away from the cover. thats what mine looked like for over a year
