Default Four wheel drive actuator

Hey my dad has a 95' 12 valve cummins, and here lately we're having trouble with the four wheel drive kicking in. It will go ahead and kick in but takes awhile or it seems it might help when you put it in neutral then drive again but is still very slow. I was wondering if this is the actuator going bad or what it could be.

Ok yeah sometimes it will kick in right away. Guess I'll have to get under their and see what I can find. I didn't know what the actuator does or if it can go bad, I have a salvaged one laying around here off an 02' but I'll check for leaks. Thanks guys

Your 4wd actuator and and your cruise and the controls for the vents all run off of vacumn. SO unless your having trouble with the other two I wouldn't be as prone to think it is a vacumn leak. However it would be the most common problem.

I'm thinking the shift collar or fork may be a little worn.

Ya everyting else is working fine. You may be right ,it may be getting a little worn the four wheel drive is used ALOT in this truck, almost everyday during winter especially.

vacumn if he has a late 02 he doesn't have a CAD on his front axle so a loss of vacumn would not affect it. Though come to think of it the cruise on an 02 is electronic. Your buddy might have 2 seperate issues.
