Question more fuel hard on pump?

i've been told by a couple people that if you turn the pump up too much that it is hard on it,and it will eventually go bad.is there anything to this,or is it bullshit?is there anything you can do to one to shorten it's life?

I, too have heard something along those lines and have a few buddies with 12v's that want em turned up a bit but are worried about hurting things. So lets get some clarification before i go tweaking things.

"blow up"? Dave you talking about sticking a rack?

As for too much FP. Jamie Wood on here is running 40 PSI at idle and 80 at full throttle with no issue. Ive see dyno graphs of hp at 40 and hp at 80 on back to back runs they had 1 - 2 more hp.

no I ment blow up ... as in I removed the dv and was picking pecies of the #5 plunger out with a pair of needle nose pliers. I'm not 100% sure how it happened cuz I had no fp guage at the time but I think my fuel press was low and caused the plunger to heat up expand and blow up.
