But I have 2 gallons of "purple power" I was going to use to flush the cooling system, poor it in with some water and run it after I get this leak fixed. Any input on that idea of using purple power?

Im going to order a new cooler and gaskets tommorow.
Heard guys prefer powdered laundry detergent or powdered dish washer soap, doesn't foam as much. I don't think it's nearly as concentrated as liquid soaps so it's also easier to get the system cleaned back out. Purple power is some pretty good stuff, but it has to be used pretty much full strength to really get the desired results other than maybe a decent strength car wash.

ave flushed my system using that peak coolant system flush about 7 times about 15 mile intervalls and i am still pulling oil out of the cooling system, i tried purple power but i found that it ate my gaskets, i had to replace my oil cooler gaskets after because it made my problem worse. but im gunna try the poder degergant, i dont think a scent would be prefered

I doubt the purple power ate up your gaskets... It's really a sub par degreaser at any rate. I'd use it on a car for a wash before I would dawn or any other liquid dish soaps. Now I can get my hands on some stuff that'll make it feel like your fingernails are going to fall off and if left on paint too long it'll take it along with any other dirt... Lol GOOD degreaser, wouldn't run it thru my block tho.

if you have a blown oil cooler you will usually be loosing oil and not seeing it go anywhere untill you look in your coolant and depending on how bad be leaking coolant like a mother fcker i saw a 96 with a blow oil cooler he noticed a coolant leak and checked his oil it was almost empty he just filled it up with gear oil and tranny fluid to make it back to town flushed everything replaced the cooler and it was fine...

My 1997 Cummins has that same problem word for word. My question is will it hurt anything to keep driving that way till taxes come cuz my Cummins is my only vehicle. And I cant afford another repair just yet already put 2000 into it. Granted it has 315,500 miles on er
