2003 V10 47re in a 1998 12-valve?

Cool. I can get this brand new, never installed, 2003 V10 47re for $1100. That is cheaper than having mine rebuilt. Either way I need a valve body and TC. So I'm thinking it sounds like a good deal. And I would still have my original tranny to rebuild and sell or share with a friend. And maybe I could even get a few bucks for the brand new V10 TC. There's gotta be a few V10 guys out there smokin' their TC's

Even better. This guy has several 'new old stock' transmissions. While I have been figuring out whether I could make his 2003 47re work in my '98 it turns out he had a 2nd gen diesel 4x4 47re all along. I bought it for $1300 shipped to my door. I think I will Transgo the valve body, buy a triple clutch TC, and make the mods to the trans that Dave Goerend suggests on his website. Then I can install my #100 plate, get some injectors, GSK, etc.

Word of advise, skip the TransGo... I put one in my truck, and it wasn't worth it. Now I'm not saying it wasn't installer error, but it burned up my 1-2 Band and I lost reverse...
Just go with a Goerend Converter, Single Disk is all you need, just make sure its a Billet cover. Ask him for a VB as well, with the money you'll save with a single disk, you'll have enough for the VB. IIRC, the Triple Disk is $1200-$1300, the Single is $600, the VB is $400. These are prices from about 2 years ago when I had a Automatic equipped truck.

Thanks for the tips. I just got off the phone with Gus Farmer (Farmboy Diesel) and he suggested the same thing. He runs a single clutch TC on his 800 hp race truck. I was also wondering if a performance valve body was just a vb with a shift kit but it sounds like there's more to it. I don't want to cut corners but I do want to save a few bucks whenever possible.
