The EGT's weren't that much higher, maybe 100*, but I was running on the highway, so wind could have raised them that much... It stuck open, and I only realized it when it started running on 5 cylinders, and my temp gauge spiked.

With this new fuel I don't think I want to know. I'd bet less than 100K miles if you don't run any type of lube.

he is talking about the Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel or more commonly known as ULSD, there is all kinds of fuel additive that add some lubricity to the fuel...they are keep lowering the sulfur content in the diesel fuel to help with emissions but it takes the lubricity out of the fuel, which in turn makes it harder on the fuel system because the fuel is what used to lubricate the injectors and fuel pumps

Being that you're in CA, check around for B2 or B5 bio diesel. That is the absolute best lubricant you can use, plus, its good for the environment and it supports US farmers.
