wierd problem starting, NEED ADVICE
my truck will run great, start great with no problem, then once i get down to about a 3/8 tank and below it will have problems starting after it sits more than a couple hours. what happens is... i will start it up in the mornings, after it idles about 20-30seconds it will die. then when i try and start it again i have to pump up the throttle and hold the key over for TOO long, im gonna break my starter. then it will start up and puff out black smoke, and will usually die again. the next time i start it i have to floor it and then the engine sound changes and a bunch of gray smoke pours out then after that it will run fine again. ever heard of this kinda thing?

Sounds like a hole in a fuel line somewhere letting it lose prime after it sits.
Pick-up hose has a hole in it?

After reading your post again I'm betting on pick-up has a hole in it.

airdog is same as fass, it is an aftermarket lift pumt that is electrical that supplies more fuel, debending on the model you can get them with water/fuel seporaters, air/fuel seporaters. and for the draw straw is it is an aftermarket replacement for the stock lift tubes in the tank. bigger tubes with bigger lift pump= more fuel faster to the p-7100 fuel injection pump. only problem is you beter have deep pockets becasue there about $400 just for the pump. i highly doubt its your lift pump though, them things are dang near bullet proof ($90 on average to replace), my guess is the tube in the tank. which can be cheep to fix with standerd fuel line or the draw straw, pain in the but having to drop the tank though
