Hey guys, thought i would check the turbo shaft endplay today, i got very little end play but it wobbles up and down about .050 or so, what should i do, i don't have the money for anything right now but i would like to upgrade the compresor wheel ect. i was woundering about the silancer ring too? should i remove that, any advantages?

no advantage with removing the silencer ring, just more noise from the turbo.

most turbos wobbel a little when they dont have oil being pumped to them. just grabbing the one side wont tell you much because they use 2 seperate journal bearings and the shaft and bearing will move in the bore to tell how much play there really is you have to take off the down pipe and grab the turbine wheel and the compressor wheel and then pull them up together. as long as the wheels arent hitting the housings you are ok.

minute side to side is ok as long as it does not contact the housing sides, but what ya gotta watch for is excessive in and out movement, thats bad,

X2(or 3) You should be ok. Alot of the clearance will be taken up with oil. Oh and define "very little" endplay?

it will need some endplay for oil clearance but to much is bad you have to develope a "feel for it" .001-.003 is good

50 bucks, would you recomend an upgraded compressor wheel? and if so what would you recomend for my truck, i am going to be putting in some 90hp injectors and some lazer cut DVs. and it still has everything thats done to it in my sig.

really i think laser cut dvs are unneeded unless you have some huge fueling needs. 191s would suit you fine as far as the compressor housing pure diesel power has a 60mm housing/wheel upgrade for $275. it would probably do pretty well for you and in the future that would be a decent top turbo in a twin setup. I havent do a whole lot of looking into hybrid turbos but some i have talked to say the like to surge.
