Smile Engine Cleanup

Ive got a 96 12v and need to clean the engine up of some oil leaks and dirt. I know pressure washers are a killer on some vehicles under the hood. Whats the best way to wash the engine without messing things up?

Cover the air filter and PDC with some plastic and spray the engine down with Simple Green....hit it with the garden hose, avoiding everything electrical.

I thought 12v's didnt have much electronics.. I know with my 07 Chevy, I stuff a rag in the airbox intake, and spray everything with simple green.. alot of it.. and then I break out the pressure washer and go crazy..

The PDC (Power Distribution Center) is in the engine bay - has a bunch of relays and fuses....dont think i would spray that....but hey, thats JMO.

+1

Make sure to re- rinse the outside of the truck after doing this, inevitably, some of the stuff will end up on your paint.

I would be careful with the Castrol Superclean. Its pretty harsh and will damage some material. I think Simple Green is the way to go.
