Default Yikes

So I just brought a 95 back from Indiana. Said it had a few minor problems. Took her to the diesel shop up the road and 1200 later I have a leak free truck . So I am as excited as a little kid at Christmas finally getting it back . 5mi down the road I come up on some slower movin traffic, so I give her a lil fuel to pass. It starts to hesitate so I pull back in my lane. Go to get back on it and I have NOTHING!!! Wants to die when I hit the accelerator. POURIN out the white smoke . So I put it in neutral and let it coast to stop.....wouldn't start again after that.

I had just had 2new oil seals put in, serpentine, and the KDP. Thought it may be a head gasket, or turbo but turbo would be black smoke right? The mechanic came up the road and looked. He told me earlier that he changed timing from whatever it was (?) to 16.5....the timing could have to do w it not startin but white smoke? never heard of that?! So I guess what I am getting at is if anyone has any input or ideas what this could be???!

Bet he didnt torque the nut enough when he set the timing OR he screwed it up.

OK GOOD NEWS. You guys were right. Just timing slippage. So he had it towed back to the shop and retorqued it. He covered the tow bill and labor (labor I figured he would). It was RDP in Burbank. Super good people just have a few mishaps here and there. Guess no one can be perfect, but you'd like them to try when working on your truck. Even after this I would still recommend Karl down there. Reasonable rate and nicest people ever. Thanks guys, by the way, for easing the nerves I had after this happened. I knew your knowledge would far outweigh my fears.

They should know this....the shaft has to be completely free of oil dirt etc. or the nut will back off and the timing will slip again. Needs to be torqued to at least 170 ft-lbs.
