Default injector problem

i just got my truck back from a mechanic, he just put new valve cover gaskets on it, he said that my two front injectors were leakin and i had to replace them. that doesnt sound right to me. what do u all think???

where were they leaking you make be able to just replace the copper washers if the return is leaking.

diesel was seepin up from the threads on the injectors, the mechaninc said there are no gaskets on them at all

Check were there leaking may have to replace washers as stated befor or might just have to tighten up a fuel line. BTW did he say he would fix it "real cheap"?

hes a close family friend and he said he has replaced all of them on his tow truck

Clean everything up good with a spray brake cleaner and see if you can tell where the leak is coming from.

From the looks of the picture it may be the horseshoe shaped copper washer on the return line. You can try and snug them up (they are really low torque) with a 10 mm box end wrench. The leak may be from the high pressure nut on the fuel line but would/should probably leak a lot more. You can snug that one up too with a 19 mm wrench. If that doesn't do it then it may be the injector itself. When my injector leaked I could easily see it trickle from the base of the injector but the return line was dry.

Clean it up first and see where its coming from. Also, if you are not sure if it is the injector or return line then swap a non-leaking injector into that spot and see what happens. More work, but a lot cheaper than replacing something that isn't bad.
