Default rookie questions?

hey i am new to this site. im not really a dodge man (yet). i know quite a bit about fords but now im working on a dodge and its like a foreign language. i have a 1997 12v cummins with 5 inch stacks and a #10 fuel plate. i have read through a ton of your forums but im just not getting the info i need. i dont understand the whole concept of the fuel plates, the afc, ware they are located or how they work. maybe someone could break it down for me, and maybe give me a little insite on what i should do to it next. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

The fuel plates the are all kinds of different numbered plates. The lower the number the more fuel. Someone on this website has pages of the different plates that are avaible. By the way welcome to the cummins world. Someone here will be able to give you a better describition then me.

your afc is your Air Fuel Control, as boost rises this allowes fueling to increase. It is the arm thats is in the middle of your fuel plate. The further foward ( tword the cab) the less fuel the further back ( tword the fan) it travels the more fuel.

Its located on the back of you injection pump. Look at your pump the back side behind the fuel lines thats the AFC. Its heald on by three bolts and a break off screw there is also a hex head in the top to get to the star wheel. You have to get that break off screw out to take the AFC off. Under the AFC is your plate.

Good luck

You'll need a clutch.
