My rear diesel w/185K keeps idling strong after key turned to "off." Camerota in Bow, NH wants to sell me a $3100.00 P7100 Injector Pump. I've read solenoid, pump, etc. I now turn off by lifting back bed, then pushing linkage rod back into solenoid. Help!

Starts fine, think I smell a little diesel, but not sure.

Dont buy an injection pump (thats pretty pricy BTW).


The problem likely is the shutoff solenoid is sticking or the starter contacts sticking. Have you ever replaced the solenoid? If you dont fix this soon you will burn up the starter. Both the blue fusible link and the relay will cause the truck to turn over but not start - so they are not causing your problem.

This is a good source for parts - while you are ordering, also get the starter rebuild kit, solenoid saver diode (Solenoid Saver Diode), starter relay kit (relay), as well as 2 sets of the replacement fuel line. You are paying shipping so you may as well get your moneys worth.
