if you look at the bolt on the cover you can tell if someone has put a socket or wrench on them because any painted bolt you tighten or loosen will leave markings or a foot print. but just to be safe i would order a kit and pull the cover off and check for sure

That is correct - you have to pull it apart. As well, the bolts for the timing case should be loctited too.

kinda off topic but i called A dealer today, just to see what they would say, and there has never been a service bulletin or anything, and the service manager at the local dealer said that he has never heard of this happening and did not see it possible to happen. so i laughed and then filled him in because he was a Idiot...

Whats worse is about 4 years ago I got the Cummins Powerboosters flyer for the local Cummins group and the "expert" was asked about the KDP. He also dismissed it as urban legend and said there was no chance of it ever happening, don't worry about it.. See 2 posts above!!

Mine was out about 3/16" when I pulled the cover. Tapped it in and put in the tab. Well worth the afternoon to do it.

hey I am trying to get in touch with Jim jessup to tune my truck but cant seem to find any phone info or other way to get a hold of him. Funny as he is only 45 min from me if he is in North Vernon. I am guessing since he has your baby there you may have a way to contact him? if so i would greatly appreciate if you could pass this info on to me at kfroschauer@cinci.rr.com
