Different applications had their own stats. It might be the same as 25/3500, just check the tag on the turbo. It might say HX35, which is what the p/u's have.
As far as trans, what are you planning to do with it? Daily driver with no power upgrades, an auto will be fine.
All out puller, you'd be better off with a standard.
Like to shift, go manual, don't like to, go auto.
Autos can be upgraded to handle more power but $$.

I would go with a nv4500 and the linkage and shifter out of the 98-02 and add a bd short shifter. through a south bend dual disk in. As for turbo for pulling. Are you going to run single or twins? I would say a sled puller 66 and ddp4s should put you there with some pump tweaking and maybe 191s

thats why he said to go with the linkage from a 98-02 model even though im not sure that is possible, the top plate on the transmissions are different from 94-98 12v's there kinda of at an angle where as on the later models its more straight across and it makes it easier to pull the tranny since you can reach thru the floor and take everything off and drop the trans straight down instead of having to turn it a little to get the earlier models out
